Hello. I'm Michael.

I drive people where they need to go. That's the whole business, and I like it that way.

I do it out of Santa Rosa, in a Hyundai Tucson. Before this I [[PREVIOUS WORK, one line]].

I started out thinking the job was about getting people from one place to another on time. It is, and I take that part seriously. The part I didn't expect is the hour in between.

You learn quite quickly that nobody is entirely themselves on the way to an airport. People are anxious about the flight, or about the reason they're taking it. Some talk the whole way. Some close their eyes and would rather not be spoken to until we arrive. Some just want somebody else to be calm about it for a while.

All of that is fine by me. You don't have to perform being a good passenger. You only have to tell me where you're going.

What I try to do is simple enough. Turn up early. Drive carefully. Take the bags. Get the temperature right without being asked. And make the getting there the part you don't have to think about.
